El Chupacabra Website Redesign Project

El Chupacabra is a local Mexican restaurant in Seattle where is serving delicious burritos and margaritas since 2005. Their current website is about 10 years old, and needed a new website to match their brand image of the restaurant.

For UI / Visual Design for Websites class at School of Visual Concepts, I redesigned their website to have user-friendly architecture with casual design to attract a wider range of customers and responsive web design for tablet and mobile platform user.

PROBLEM

Although their current website presents their fun and quirky atmosphere very well, there are a few problems we could improve in order to increase their sales.

Their Call-to-Action button (CTA) to order food online is difficult to navigate, which is a crucial element for the COVID-19 environment. Next, there are two different navigation bars on the left and the top, and they are not consistent. Finally, the website needs to have responsive design for tablet and mobile platforms for all users.

SOLUTION

Relocate the CTA buttons to the top of home page in order to navigate users easily. The navigation bar is simplified and locked on the top of the page, so customers will be able to click the menu anytime. My design goal was increasing the target audience up to family groups on top of their current audience which is 21 to mid 30 years old. I achieved attracting a wider range of customers by incorporating illustrations and sans-serif font to create a casual style web design.
